Adolph & Carmen's Trip to Tanzania with Family Members

INTRODUCTION TO VIDEOS AND PHOTOGRAPHS

OF OUR TRIP TO TANZANIA

WITH OUR EXTENDED FAMILY

Dear Friends and Colleagues

Below are two 3-minute videos of the trip my extended family had to Arusha and the Game Parks and to Zanzibar Island in July 2023.

My extended family of 12 persons consisted of my two sons with five their children and my daughter and their partners and of course Carmen and myself.

The first video has a theme song from Lion King and is essentially the work of one of my grandaughters made on the occasion of my 80th birthday last December. The second video focusses on Zanzibar Island – the UN Heritage Stone town and the resort on the northwest coast of the island.

I have an affinity to both places. I was born in Zanzibar and went to school there. During my university vacation I spent time doing a research assistant work in the game park in Ngorongoro crater.

The videos are followed by a dump of photographs essentially in two parts.

Part 1 consists of a number of photographs taken during our trip to Arusha and the Game parks.

Part 2 contains photographs of Zanzibar Island. The photos have not been edited and will be of interest only to those friends who are originally from Zanzibar and have now migrated to other countries. The include photographs of my High School (King George the VI School) now re-named Lumumba College, the half-constructed church for the St Anthony of Padua Parish in Machui and the graves of some prominent Goans who passed away in the last twenty years in Zanzibar. These are not normally photos one would have on blogs – but will be of interest to the Diasporan Goan community from Zanzibar.

Enjoy the selection and watch selectively at your leisure.
